A Special Memory

When I was a child we had cold winters in Arkansas County with ice and snows. One winter the canal by the Bayou Meto School froze over with a thick layer of ice. Our teachers let us slide and play on the frozen canal during a long recess. What a great, fun time we had! We were hoping to repeat the fun again the next day but were not allowed to do so. Perhaps the temperature had risen and the fear of children breaking through the ice canceled the event. This was a one time opportunity which still makes me happy to think about how much fun we had on the frozen canal.

This story was included in the Bayou Meto School Reunion book for that event on October 5, 2013.
