From 1875 to 1960, the Bayou Meto School is where hundreds of kids learned The Three Rs: 'readin', 'ritin', and 'rithmetic. Today, in the restored two-room schoolhouse originally constructed in 1932, The Schoolhouse Lodge offers you the opportunity to enjoy a new set of Rs: rest, relaxation, and recreation.

Guests will enjoy a home-away-from-home experience with overnight accommodations for up to 14 people. Each of the six bedrooms has a private bathroom — no more outhouses — four of which are located in the former coat closets of the old school. The former school stage is now the kitchen overlooking the living and dining rooms. Photos and memorabilia from school days are part of the decor with a patriotic theme all around.

Planning an event or an overnight getaway? It’s time to go to school!

“My most precious memory is that of growing up with other country kids, playing in the dust.”
